The DeLonghi Dinamica Plus is 24 cm wide, which is hardly bigger than a coffee machine with grinder. Compared to many other fully automatic coffee machines, it has two advantages – you can pull out the water tank and the milk container both to the front. This saves space and is also suitable for smaller kitchens. The casing is made of a matte plastic and looks high-quality.
The DeLonghi Dinamica Plus has a fully automatic milk system that allows you to prepare any drink at the touch of a button. Simply fill the milk container with cold milk and plug it into the bean to cup coffee machine. About 500 ml of milk for 4-5 drinks fit into the container. After drawing, remove the container with a handle and place it in the refrigerator.
The milk container makes a very good impression on us regarding quality. The milk spout can be adjusted in height to perfectly fit different glasses.
For cappuccino, for example, level 3 with lots of creamy milk foam is recommended. Once you have adjusted everything to your liking, the creamy milk foam flows into the glass. You don’t have to measure or froth the milk yourself, it’s all automatic. Unfortunately, however, milk drinks can only be prepared one after the other, as there is only one milk spout.
By the way, with an average of 59 decibels, the milk system of the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus is one of the quietest in our test. You can still talk comfortably without shouting.
At the top center of the Dinamica Plus you will find the bean compartment. It fits up to 300g of beans for about 30 drinks. The aroma is protected by an airtight and slightly darkened lid. The opening is quite large and therefore the compartment is easy to fill.
The opening is quite large and the compartment is easy to fill. It even appears a note in the display as soon as the bean compartment is empty. However, the message only appears if the compartment is already empty, and even then only very briefly.
A grid ensures that all beans slide evenly towards the grinder. At the same time, of course, it prevents someone from reaching into the grinder. The bean compartment is well thought out and the quality definitely is good.
A compartment for ground coffee is also integrated in the front area. This is ideal for preparing a decaffeinated drink in between times, for example.
Grinder of the DeLonghi ECAM 370.95.T
The DeLonghi Dinamica Plus is equipped with a conical burr grinder made of stainless steel. You can adjust the grinder setting in 13 levels (labeled 1-7) using the control dial. You will find the regulator at the back left of the bean compartment. To adjust the grinder setting, simply turn towards 7 (coarse) or towards 1 (fine). In the test, this worked without any problems.
You can see which grinder setting is currently set by the small arrow on the back. Ex works, the grinder is set to level 5 of 7, which is relatively coarse. To avoid jamming and damaging the grinder, you should only adjust it during the grinding process. Preferably only by one level per grinding process.
At level 2.5 of 7, the coffee powder is already ground quite finely. It is definitely very good for espresso. With an average of 67 decibels, the grinder is also relatively quiet. Not quite as quiet as the Siemens EQ.500, but still one of the quieter fully automatic coffee machines in our test.
On the right side of the Dinamica Plus is the water tank. It holds up to 1.8 liters and can be easily pulled out to the front. In our opinion, this is also the best solution for bean to cup coffee machines, because this way you don’t need any additional space next to it. You can access both the water tank and the milk container directly from the front. As soon as the water tank is empty, a message appears on the display.
At the bottom of the tank you will find the connection for a water filter. The first filter is included in the scope of delivery. With a filter, you need to descale (significantly) less often and save yourselfs the effort. However, afilter* costs a little more compared to the descaler. We filter our water because the less lime that gets into the pipes, the better.
On top of the tank sits another lid made of plastic. It has a small opening to fill the tank and a bracket that fixes the water filter. If you do not use a filter, you can simply remove the lid. Overall, the quality is very good and the tank closes exactly with the rest of the casing. No gaps to be seen.
With the DeLonghi Dinamica, you can adjust the coffee spouts from 8.5 to 13.5 cm. Everything looks quite sturdy, although plastic and not stainless steel is used here. For small espresso cups, the gap is relatively large. In our test, however, nothing splashed.
It always a close call with the large latte macchiato glasses. They only fit under the coffee and milk spout of a few bean to cup coffee machines. However, the Dinamica Plus is very flexible here and can even handle the huge Ikea cup.
There are two coffee spouts. However, you can only prepare espresso in the double cup option and not coffee. This is a pity and not comprehensible for us. It can even prepare a pot of coffee with 6 cups, but no double cup option for 2 large cups. Why?! However, there is a cup heater. This uses the waste heat from the bean to cup coffee machine and takes a little while to heat up.
You switch on the device with the round button on the top of the display. When switched on, the machine performs an automatic rinsing process and heats up. After approx. 40 seconds you can prepare the first drink
The display has a good size and understandably laid out. On the screen you will see all drinks as pictures – 4 drinks per page. You can use the arrow keys to scroll through the pages by touch . Here you have to be a bit careful: the arrows are relatively close to the drink symbols. As soon as you have selected a beverage, the bean to cup coffee machine immediately starts preparing it.
The nice thing is that the bean to cup coffee machine always shows you the drinks you prepared last as the first. So if you like to drink a Flat White, you don’t have to scroll through all the pages every time. Below the screen you will find 6 more buttons that are also used via touch. The symbols are relatively self-explanatory.
On the top left button (cups icon) you set the beverage quantity. Next to it, you’ll find a button with coffee beans – for adjusting the coffee strength. The other buttons allow you to set up profiles, adjust all beverage settings (My), and access the main menu (gearwheel). We’ll explain all settings in detail in pointSettings.
Overall, the display is very clear and easy to use. However, it could be a bit slanted so that you can read it well from above. The font in the screen could also be a little bigger. Elderly people don’t necessarily seem to be the target group here.
With the Delonghi Dinamica Plus, you can choose from these 12 different beverages:
We got the best results with the grinder setting at level 2 out of 7. This is because finer coffee powder produces more intense espresso. For the coffee strength, we recommend the “strong” or “extra strong” levels. The beverage quantity is set to 40 ml. If you like it stronger, you can reduce the amount to 20 ml (Ristretto) or increase it to 80 ml (Lungo).
The draw takes about 45 seconds and the temperature is just right at 70°C. If you like it even hotter, you can set the brewing temperature to “very high” in the menu. By the way, a double cup option is also possible for espresso, i.e. two espressos at the same time.
How good is the espresso?
We always use the same beans for our tests, so we have a direct comparison to other fully automatic coffee machines. The espresso from the DeLonghi Dinamica is one of the best we’ve had so far. In the photo you can see the fine, light brown crema.
Taste-wise, the espresso is intense and aromatic. The light nutty aromas of our beans come through clearly. As for the consistency, the espresso is nice and thick and reminds a bit of syrup. It’s exactly the same with portafilters. The Dinamica Plus comes close. Overall, a very good espresso that could convince all test subjects.
An intense coffee in the morning has saved many a day. It should be aromatic and hot, but, of course, contain little bitterness. With the DeLonghi ECAM 370.95.T you have two different coffees to choose from – the classic coffee and a long coffee. We briefly explain the difference, because it is important for the taste.
At classic coffee all of the water is pressed under high pressure through the coffee puck. Due to the relatively long extraction a few more bitter substances are extracted and get into the cup. This is because bitter substances are deeply enclosed in the coffee powder and are only dissolved by prolonged contact with hot water. So, for example, when a lot of water is pressed through a coffee puck.
The alternative is the Long Coffee. For this the so called surge brewing process is used. Small amounts of water are repeatedly pressed through the coffee puck using a lower pressure. In addition, after the half of the draw a second grinding process is started and a second coffee puck is used. Due to the lower pressure and the second coffee puck, the bitter substances get significantly reduced.
Now for a quick few tips on the best settings for your coffee and long coffee.
The grinder setting should be a little coarser than for espresso, levels 4-5 of 7 are ideal. The somewhat coarser coffee powder also dissolves fewer bitter substances. The beverage quantity is set at 180 ml, but you can adjust it in four levels from 100-250 ml. For the aroma, we recommend levels 3-4.
Drawing a classic coffee takes 1:20 minutes. With the Long, the draw is about 2 minutes because of the second grinding process. Both variants were definitely nice and hot at around 75°C. Unfortunately, a double cup option (two cups at the same time) is not possible. We don’t know why either, because there is even a coffee pot function for up to 750 ml. Our recommendation if you want to prepare two large cups of coffee at the same time – just choose a pot with 500 ml.
How good is the coffee really?
Our product testers were particularly enthusiastic about the Long Coffee. It is an aromatic and at the same time more digestible alternative to regular coffee. The crema of the Long is not as fine as that of coffee, but the special extraction process ensures that hardly any bitterness enters the cup. Since two coffee pucks are used, the taste is also really intense.
However, the normal coffee is also impressive compared to other bean to cup coffee machines. Nevertheless, the bitter substances come through a bit more and our testers therefore prefer the Long Coffee. Overall, coffee drinkers will definitely have fun with the Dinamica Plus as well, not just milk foam fans.
For many, it is the main reason to buy a bean to cup coffee machine – the cappuccino. We think of fine, slightly sweet milk foam combined with an aromatic espresso. The perfect start to the day, right? We have experimented a lot to find the ideal settings for you (and us). This is the result.
We set the grinder setting to levels 2-3 out of 7. Because cappuccino is prepared with espresso. To make it intense and aromatic, it needs a fine grinder setting. We prefer to set the aroma to “strong” (4 beans), so that the espresso really comes into its own. You can adjust the quantity to your cup in 4 levels or program it freely.
You can also adjust the consistency of the milk foam in 3 levels. We use the highest level, as recommended in the instructions. Then there’s a lot of creamy and fine foam. On the medium level you get a little less and more liquid foam.
DeLonghi is an Italian manufacturer and uses the classic recipes. Therefore, the cappuccino is more intense in the factory settings than we are used to. Of course, you can easily adjust the amount of milk and espresso. We explain how to do this in the Settings.
The preparation takes about 1:40 minutes and the cappuccino has the ideal temperature of 71°C. However, the first cappuccino does not always get hot enough. Here are two quick tips on this: raise the brewing temperature in the menu and start a short rinse cycle of the milk system (about 30 seconds). Then the temperature rises. Unfortunately, a double cup option is not possible for milk beverages.
How good are the cappuccino and milk foam?
As far as milk foam is concerned, the Dinamica Plus is right up there. Very uniform, fine and creamy milk foam. The foam has a great consistency and sticks well to the spoon. On the palate, the slight sweetness of the milk comes through nicely and rounds out the intense espresso flavors. Overall, a very good cappuccino, which also gives a feeling of coffee house at home.
We set the grinder setting to levels 2-3 of 7, as for espresso. To get some espresso flavors despite the high milk content, we set the coffee strength to level 4 “strong”. You can adjust the beverage quantity to your glass via 4 levels or program it freely. Level 4 will definitely fill even a large glass.
For the consistency of the milk foam, we recommend level 2, i.e. slightly less foam. This is also typical for latte macchiato. If you really love a lot of milk foam, you can of course also select level 3.
It takes about 2 minutes to draw and the latte macchiato has a perfect temperature of 69°C. Not quite as hot as the cappuccino, though. This is due to the high milk content and also has a good reason. This is because milk is only heated to approx. 65°C here, as it can already taste slightly burnt at even higher temperatures.
How good is the latte macchiato?
Just like with the cappuccino, the milk foam is really convincing our testers. Very fine, uniform and creamy. As you can see in the photo below, it’s a little more liquid than the cappuccino. The sweetness of the milk and the light espresso flavors complement each other very well.
After a few seconds, the three typical layers can be seen – the hot milk at the bottom, the espresso above it, and the fine milk foam on top. Visually and in terms of taste, the latte macchiato is also one of the best in the test field.
The Dinamica Plus offers you 12 different beverages. In addition to the classics, there’s also Flat White, Cappuccino Mix, Cappuccino+, Caffelatte, Doppio+, Espresso Macchiato and the coffee pot. Besides, you can also just prepare hot water or hot milk.
Flat White is the intense alternative to cappuccino. It is prepared with a small strong espresso (ristretto) and a little more milk foam. The milk foam (level 2) is slightly more liquid and creamy than in cappuccino. In taste it is a little stronger and more aromatic.
Very interesting is the espresso macchiato – an espresso with a milk foam cap. This is another level more intense than the Flat White. The perfect middle ground for those who find espresso too strong and cappuccino too mild.
In the Cappuccino Mix, the classic recipe is prepared in the correct order. First espresso and then milk foam. For optical reasons, almost all fully automatic bean to cup coffee machines first prepare the milk foam and then the espresso. You can see why on the picture below. It’s also the only drink that didn’t quite convince us. The milk foam, for example, is not that fine.
Only very few bean to cup coffee machines offer a coffee pot function. But you don’t have to do without this with the Dinamica Plus. You can brew up to 6 cups or 750 ml at a time. A total of 3 grinding processes are performed for this. Since normal coffee lacks a double cup option, the coffee pot option is ideal for preparing 2 large cups at the same time.
In addition, you can still prepare pure milk foam, for example, to prepare a hot choclate. This is where the consistency dial comes into its own. You can prepare hot milk without, with little or with much foam simply by pressing a button. There is a suitable setting for everyone.
As soon as you select a beverage, the bean to cup coffee machine immediately starts preparing it. If you want to adjust the coffee strength or beverage quantity, you should do so in advance. Otherwise, the device will fall back to your already saved setting. If you have not saved anything individually, the factory settings are used.
Set coffee strength
You can set the coffee strength for each drink in 5 levels. This ranges from extra mild (x-mild) to extra strong (x-strong). To do this, press the coffee bean icon until you have set your desired strength. The set coffee strength is shown at the top right of the display.
A coffee spoon symbol appears on the 6th level. Use this setting if you want to use ground coffee.
If you want to permanently save a certain coffee strength for a drink, you have to reprogram the respective drink.
Set beverage quantity
In other DeLonghi bean to cup coffee machines, the amount from value is often fixed programmed. Here you can set the beverage quantity via 4 levels : Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large. To do this, simply press the cup icon at the top left of the display.
However, the quantities do not specify exact milliliters. We do not find a hint in the manual either. In our test, we prepared a cappuccino mix in “Small” and “Medium” and obtained the following quantities:
Our 200 ml jar was only completely full at the “Large” volume setting. So the cup sizes are kept relatively small. If you do not change the beverage quantity, the machine will prepare your programmed quantity. If you have not (yet) programmed anything, it always selects the default quantity (medium).
What we like about it: The device always retains the saved recipe. This means that the ratio of the amount of coffee to the amount of milk always remains the same. With the predecessor model – the DeLonghi Dinamica ECAM 350.55.Bthis was not yet the case.
Double cup option
The double cup option is unfortunately only possible for espresso. Coffee and all beverages with milk foam can only be prepared one after the other. This is also logical, because the device has only one milk spout. However, we don’t understand why we can’t prepare two coffees at the same time. Eventually, the device can prepare a whole pot of coffee. Alternatively, instead of a pot, you can simply place 2 cups underneath. To activate the double cup option, press the Espresso icon twice in succession. Of course, you must not forget to place 2 espresso cups underneath. 😉
Prepare pot of coffee
Often sought and rarely found – the coffee pot function. With the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus, you can brew up to 6 cups or 750 ml of coffee at once. That’s not much of a pot – but it’s still more than many other bean to cup coffee machines offer. One pot grinds up to 3 coffee pucks and accordingly brews 3 times.
By the way, you can also use the jug function if you want to prepare two cups at the same time. To do this, simply place the two cups under each coffee spout. Now select either 2 cups (125 ml per cup) or 4 cups (250 ml per cup) as the quantity. According to the instructions, you should let the bean to cup coffee machine cool down for 5 minutes before the next preparation. Otherwise, there is a risk of overheating.
You can completely reprogram each drink using the “My” icon. This allows you to adjust the ratio of coffee and amount of milk to your taste for cappuccino and the like. Theoretically, you can even create your own recipes.
And this is how it works: Select the drink you want to customize in the “My Menu”. We’ll now show you the whole thing on a cappuccino. First, the bean to cup coffee machine will ask you for the desired coffee strength. Here you have the 5 coffee strengths to choose from extra mild (x-mild) to extra strong (x-strong)
Now the device begins to prepare. The display shows a bar indicating the programmable amount of milk. In the course of preparation, the bar continues to fill. The asterisk marks the location of the previous setting. Once you are satisfied with the amount of milk, press “Stop” on the display.
Then the bean to cup coffee machine dispenses the coffee. Again, you will see a bar for the amount of coffee. Press “Stop” again as soon as you are satisfied with the amount.
Finally, the bean to cup coffee machine will ask you if you want to save the settings. Confirm with “ok” or choose “Esc” if you do not want to save the drink.
You can program the following quantities:
|Espresso:||20 – 180 ml|
|Long:||115 – 250 ml|
|Coffee:||100 – 240 ml|
|Doppio+:||80 – 180 ml|
|Cappuccino, latte macchiato, etc.:|
20 – 180 ml (espresso)
5 – 90 sec. (Milk Foam)
On the device, the quantities are set more by eye. It’s even better if you use the De’Longhi app. Here you can precisely adjust the amount of coffee in 5 ml steps. The amount of milk is given in seconds. For example, for cappuccino, the amount of milk is 16 seconds. This refers to the time of milk frothing. The longer the bean to cup coffee machine froths milk, the more milk foam ends up in your cup.
Here, of course, it would be even nicer to have concrete milliliter specifications. However, the volume is of course also dependent on which milk foam consistency you have set on the milk container. In total, you have a programmable amount of milk foam between 5 to 90 seconds.
With the Delonghi app you can adjust the amount of coffee and milk foam even more precisely.
Set milk foam consistency
Directly on the milk container you will find a control for the milk foam consistency. Use the 3 levels to set how strongly the milk should be frothed. On the first level you get hot milk without foam – perfect for caffe latte or cocoa. On level 2, you get the perfect amount of foam for latte macchiato or flat white. On level 3 you will get a lot of foam as recommended for cappuccino. Of course, these are only recommendations. Of course you can experiment here. You can easily adjust the slider by turning it by hand. Each time you take a drink, the device will remind you of the recommended level.
You can choose from 4 levels for the temperature: low, medium, high and very high. Unfortunately, you can only set the temperature generally and not by drink. This means that as soon as you change the temperature, it will be saved for all drinks.
By the way, we achieved the best results at the “high” level. Here, the temperature of the drinks was always in the ideal range. If you like it even hotter, you can also set the temperature to “very high”. This is recommended for espresso and all drinks based on it (cappuccino, latte macchiato). What many people don’t know is that the temperature only changes the brewing temperature of the coffee – not the milk foam.
Adjust grinder setting
The grinder control is located in the bean compartment. The grinder has a total of 7 levels, which you can set in half steps (1 – 1.5 – 2 – 2.5 etc.) This gives you effectively even 13 grinder settings to choose from and plenty of room for experimentation. The factory setting is level 5, which is ideal for normal coffee or long coffee. For espresso and all drinks based on it (cappuccino), we recommend level 2-3. At this setting, the espresso had a nice crema and was balanced in aroma.
It is important that you only adjust the grinder during operation and only by half a level at a time. By the way, this is the case with all bean to cup coffee machines, and for good reason: there are always coffee beans in the grinder that only “slip through” during grinding. Outside the grinding process, the beans are literally “stuck”. You’ll notice that the grinder is difficult to adjust and, in the worst case, may even break. By the way, a new grinder setting has an effect only after 2-3 drinks.
You can create up to 3 profiles and a guest profile with this Delonghi model. With each profile you can make the settings mentioned so far. This is especially useful if everyone in the household drinks their coffee differently. With the Delonghi app, even your name is transmitted to the device. So there is no profile confusion – very convenient.
Once you have selected a profile, all beverage settings you make now will be saved exclusively under this profile. To do this, go to “my” to customize the desired drink to your taste. The drinks that you do not adjust will be output in the default setting.
The app control of the Delonghi Dinamica Plus is particularly praiseworthy. The bean to cup coffee machine is connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth. The app is very clearly laid out and easy to understand. On the home screen you can scroll through all the drinks. By the way, the order of drinks changes after each preparation. This way, your favorite drinks are always displayed in front – very smart.
As soon as you tap on a beverage image, you can make further settings. While you program the quantities on the device more by eye, you can make very precise settings here. You can set the amount of coffee in 5 ml increments and the amount of milk in seconds (duration of frothing). You can also determine the aroma and temperature. The bean to cup coffee machine saves your settings for the beverage. You can recognize this by the fact that the “my” symbol appears next to the drink.
Of course, you can also select different profiles in the app. Just tap on the avatar image in the upper right corner. In addition, you can even create your own recipes and thereby create completely new coffee creations. In addition to the amount of coffee and milk, you can also specify their order (first espresso, then milk foam or vice versa). Really cool.
Of course, the app is not absolutely necessary. However, we find it very practical since even finer settings can be made here. Handling is even easier than directly on the device. Every now and then, especially after switching on the bean to cup coffee machine, there are short connection problems. The app is also sometimes a bit sluggish when changing profiles. On the whole, however, it works quite reliably.
To prepare your coffee from bed is unfortunately not possible. The reason: the device must be turned on to use the app at all. And even if the app could turn on the bean to cup coffee machine, it will always perform a rinse cycle after it is turned on. The rinse water will then land in your cup first. As you can see, there is still a long way to go until you have a really smart app control 😉
Reset factory settings
In the menu you can reset individual beverages for each profile under “Beverage settings”. This makes sense if you want to return to the recommended default setting for a particular drink. Simply confirm the respective drink with “Reset”.
By the way, you can reset the entire device in the main menu under “Factory settings”. Note, however, that really everything except the language is reset here.
Set standby time
If you do not prepare a beverage, the bean to cup coffee machine switches itself off after a while. You can set when the machine goes into standby mode in 5 levels from 15 minutes to 3 hours. If you set level 1 and do not prepare a beverage for 15 minutes, the DeLonghi ECAM 370.95.T switches itself off.
Only those who regularly maintain their bean to cup coffee machine will be supplied with good coffee in the long term. But it’s not as elaborate as some of you think. Especially not DeLonghi, because here they have thoroughly thought about cleaning. What is to be done according to the instructions?
- Brewing unit: according to instructions 1x monthly – we recommend 1x weekly cleaning
- Milk system: short rinse cycle after each withdrawal
- Milk container: clean every 2 days – by hand or dishwasher
- Drip trays: clean when full or after 3 days
- Descaling: every 1-6 months depending on water hardness and filter
- Water tank and interior: clean monthly or as needed
In total, the effort for you is 15-20 minutes per week. For this estimate, we assumed a purchase of 20 drinks per week.
In the following, we have selected the most important care products in each case in the original and a cheaper alternative. For descaler, we always use the original during the warranty.
DeLonghi water filter
Alternative water filter
Milk system cleaner
Clean milk system
After you have prepared a drink with milk foam, you will be directly reminded of the rinsing process. If you prepare several drinks in succession, you must of course start the rinsing process only at the end.
To do this, place an empty cup under the milk spout and turn the control to “Clean”. The remaining milk can remain in the container. Only hot water and steam is passed through the lid and milk spout. A flushing process takes approx. 1 minute. In our test, the program worked very thoroughly and reliably.
After that, you can remove the milk container and put it in the refrigerator. Every 2-3 days you should clean the milk container thoroughly, either in the dishwasher or by hand.
For this purpose, the milk container including the lid can be disassembled into a total of 7 parts. Everything is well thought out and easier than you might think.
In the dishwasher, we recommend you use the Eco mode at 40° to 50°C. Alternatively, you can also soak the milk container and especially the lid in warm water with milk system cleaner for 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. This makes especially sense to remove the milk fat. Then you get permanently creamy fine milk foam.
Cleaning the drip tray & coffee grounds tray
The coffee grounds tray of the DeLonghi ECAM 370.95.T can hold up to 14 coffee pucks. You can therefore prepare 14 drinks without having to empty the container in between. When it is full, a message appears in the display.
The drip tray is also relatively large. There a red float shows you when the bowl is full. By the way, you can simply pull out both containers to the front.
The coffee pucks are pressed cleanly and end up all in one piece in the container. Only rarely do we find some coffee powder in the drip tray or the interior.
Compared to other bean to cup coffee machines, the effort is very low . We only rarely find some coffee powder in the drip tray or the interior.
Tip: Simply place a cup underneath when switching on and off to catch the water from the rinsing processes. Then you can also permanently remove the plastic grid with the float and save yourself the washing up.
Empty the containers regularly and rinse them once a week with warm water and washing-up liquid. According to the instructions, they must not be put in the dishwasher. However, nothing happened in Eco mode with max.40°C for us and also according to other users. This is your decision. However, the containers have hardly any corners and are also easy to clean by hand.
In total, the effort per week is about 5 minutes.
With the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus, you can remove the brewing unit in a few easy steps. First you need to turn off the bean to cup coffee machine, then remove the water tank and open the flap behind it. The brewing unit has two red buttons – you just squeeze them together and pull them out.
According to the instructions, you should clean the brewing unit once a month. We recommend you to clean them 1x per week. The longer the coffee residue dries in, the more difficult it is to clean.
However, we found only a few coffee residues on the brewing unit of the Dinamica Plus. Simply rinse them with clean water or immerse them in water for a few minutes. However, you should not use detergent, because some moving parts are greased so that everything runs like lubricated.
The brewing unit is very compact and robust. This makes it easy to clean. Inside the machine there is still the plunger (top left of the service door) which you can wipe with a damp cloth. That’s it for cleaning the brewing unit.Overall, the effective effort is only 2 minutes per week.
DeLonghi Dinamica Plus descale
The program for descaling is performed almost completely automatically. It takes about 45 minutes, but for you the effort is only about 5 minutes.
If the water is very hard you need to descale monthly, with soft water about every 3 months. You can’t get around this with any bean to cup coffee machine. In order for the bean to cup coffee machine to remind you to descale in time, it is important to set the correct water hardness in the menu. For this purpose, a test strip is included in the scope of delivery.
If you have a water filter you need to descale much less often. An original filter costs about 8 pounds and lasts about 2 months. Compared to other manufacturers, this is relatively inexpensive. A filter is definitely recommended if the water contains lime, especially for high-quality bean to cup coffee machines like the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus. After all, the less lime that gets into the pipes, the longer the service life.
We have brought you both the original descaler and water filteras well as a cheaper alternative.
How does descaling work?
You select “Descaling” in the menu and then follow the step-by-step instructions. First, empty the water tank and remove the water filter. Now the tank is filled with descaler up to line “A” and then with water up to line “B”. Then empty the drip trays, replace them and place a bowl underneath. Now the actual decalcification begins and you can sit back.
After about 25 minutes, you will need to rinse and refill the water tank. Then the program continues again. At the end you put the water filter back in and fill the tank again, that’s it.
In any case, it is practical that you are guided through the program via the display in an easily understandable way. This way you can’t really do anything wrong.
Activate water filter
In the scope of delivery you will find a test strip to determine the lime content of your tap water. You can then set this in the menu under “Water hardness” in 4 levels. Read the level directly from your test strip. The bean to cup coffee machine can then determine exactly when decalcification is required. A message then appears in the display.
With a water filter, you will have to descale the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus less often. The first filter is included in the scope of delivery. Whether you continue to use filters after that or decalcify a little more often is up to you. You can activate the filter in the menu via “Water filter”. Just follow the instructions on the display that show you step-by-step what to do. If you have soft water (level 1 on the test strip) a filter is not really necessary.
