Conclusion on the Siemens EQ.6 plus
Our test winner 2022 – Micro-Foam & high quality
The Siemens EQ.6 plus s700 prepares 9 drinks at the touch of a button. We were particularly impressed by the intense espresso and the creamy milk foam. But that’s not the only reason why the EQ.6 was our test winner for a long time. It also scored well in every other categorie of our bean to cup coffee machine test.
It convinces with its simple handling and is easy to clean. Especially the quick rinsing of the milk system is very efficient. The EQ.6 convinces with its high quality and a fairly silent grinder.
Although the EQ.6 is slowly being replaced by the modern Siemens EQ.700, it remains a very popular model. No wonder, because the EQ.6 plus s700 delivers just as good drinks as the newer Siemens machines. So here you can save some money 😉
Advantages:
- extremely fine milk foam (micro-foam)
- DoubleShot function (more intensity)
- high quality with a lot of stainless steel
- Efficient, fast milk system rinsing
- very quiet grinder (approx. 64 dB)
- all drinks also in double cup option
- Touch display with intuitive operation
- 4 drinks favorites
Disadvantages:
- No app control
- No profiles
Summary of the Siemens EQ.6 plus s700
Besides the Siemens EQ.6 plus s700, there is also a cheaper version – the EQ.6 plus s300. More plastic is used in the s300 variant. In addition, only 2 instead of 4 drink favorites can be created and the double cup option is only possible for espresso and coffee. This means you can only prepare one cappuccino after the other.
With the s300 you also have a reduced pump pressure of 15 bar. According to experts, this is irrelevant, since bean to cup coffee machines only work at 9-10 bar anyway. With the s700, you still have a cup light at the coffee spouts. Otherwise, both devices are exactly identical according to SIEMENS. The milk system prepares just as fine milk foam for you. So you get just as good drinks. If you want to save some money, you can go for the EQ.6 plus s300.
Here are the differences again at a glance:
Siemens EQ.6 plus s700
- Model: TE657503EN
- high quality stainless steel front
- Cup light
- 4 drinks favorites
- all drinks in double cup option
- 19 bar pump
- With milk container or with milk tube only
Siemens EQ.6 plus s300
- Model: TE653501EN
- Plastic front in silver
- without cup light
- 2 drinks favorites
- Espresso and coffee in double cup option
- 15 bar pump
- With milk container or with milk tube only
Tip: Both variants are available with and without a milk container. Most often, the versions without milk container are cheaper. Then you have a milk tube that you hang directly into your milk carton. There are always offers where the variant with milk container is even cheaper. It’s worth taking in that case – you always have a milk tube included anyway 😉 By the way the milk container* is also available separately.
Any questions?
Then take a look at our detailed review. Use the table of contents if you are interested in something specific. If you still have a question, please feel free to leave us a comment .
The Siemens EQ.6 is not much bigger than a coffee maker with a width of 28 cm and a height of 38 cm. However, you will need some space next to it for the insulated stainless steel milk container or a milk carton.
There is a lot of stainless steel and thus the bean to cup coffee machine looks very high quality and is an eye-catcher in every kitchen.

Lots of stainless steel, good beverage selection
Milk system of the Siemens EQ.6
We’ll start directly with a highlight, the milk system. The milk container is made of a double-walled stainless steel and the lid is equipped with a clever detail.

Insulated, double-walled stainless steel milk tank
It is completely airtight due to a circumferential rubber seal and a twist-off cap. So you can simply store the tank in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. The milk container fits perfectly in the refrigerator door.

Completely airtight thanks to screw cap
It fits 500 ml of milk in the tank, which is enough for about 4-5 drinks. It is best to use cold milk with approx. 3.5% fat. You can screw the lid onto the container and then dip the milk tube through the small opening.

500 ml milk = 4-5 cappuccini
Alternatively, you can simply dip the milk tube into a milk carton. Then you save the washing up of the milk tank.

Simply use with milk carton
By the way, the milk tube including the tube and the milk spout are dishwasher safe, but we will explain the cleaning in more detail later.
Bean compartment
The bean compartment is on the top, back right of the bean to cup coffee machine. Due to the round shape it has no corners and the beans always slide well to the grinder after. It also has a circumferential rubber seal to preserve the flavor of the beans for as long as possible.

Aroma is preserved due to rubber seal
It fits 300 grams of beans in the compartment which is enough for about 30 drinks.

300 grams of beans for about 30 drinks
Alternatively, you can also fill ground coffee powder into the small compartment to the right of the bean compartment. However, freshly ground beans are of course much better in terms of taste.

Use ground coffee powder
Grinder of the Siemens EQ.6
Directly in the bean compartment you will find the grinder setting. You can adjust the grinder in 5 levels. The smaller the dot, the finer the beans are ground. We recommend the two finest levels, because then the drinks become particularly intense and aromatic.

Recommendation: use the two finest grinder settings
As you can see here, the coffee beans are really already ground very evenly and finely on the second-fine level.

Very uniform and finely ground
You can adjust the grinder setting during the grinding process by turning the knob. When the grinder is in motion, nothing jams either.

Adjust grinder setting simply by turning
By the way, a ceramic disc mill is installed here. With an average of 64 dB, it is one of the quietest grinders in our bean to cup coffee machine test. You can have a relaxed conversation during the grinding process and also not wake up the whole family on Sunday morning 😉
Water tank
The water tank is on the left side of the Siemens EQ.6 plus s700. To remove it, simply lift it slightly and you can then bring it forward towards you. Therefore, even wall cabinets are not a problem.

Lift slightly and bring forward
In the rear part of the tank is the connection for a water filter. The first filter is also included in the delivery. If you use a filter, you will have to descale less often, but the bean to cup coffee machine will of course work without a filter.

To the right of the filter you can see the connector
You can then fill the tank either under the tap or directly at the bean to cup coffee machine. With the 1.7 liters of water you can prepare about 12-15 drinks.

Easy to fill thanks to large opening
When the tank is empty, a message appears in the display. We very much like the fact that the EQ.6 already tells you before you move in, whether the water is still sufficient for your desired drink. The reference is not canceled as in many other bean to cup coffee machine. A clear advantage, because no coffee puck is wasted.
Coffee & milk spout
You can adjust the height of the coffee spouts from 8 to 14 cm . Even large latte macchiato glasses are no problem.

Large latte macchiato glasses are no problem
There are two coffee and two milk outlets. You can therefore prepare all drinks in the double cup option. From espresso and coffee to cappuccino and latte macchiato. This is especially handy when you have visitors.

Double cup option for all beverages
The coffee spouts are easy to adjust and the quality is really good.
Display
The display is nice and big and can be operated completely via touch. On the screen you will always see the drink you are preparing or have prepared. All drinks are represented by matching images. Here you have (from left to right): Espresso, Espresso Macchiato, Caffe Crema, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato, Milk Coffee and simply milk foam (e.g. for cocoa).

Display of the Siemens EQ.6
Under the right cup with the plus sign you will find more drinks, like the Flat White or Americano. So you really have all the important drinks on board here and can try out some new things.

More drinks
Use the left button with the two cups to set the double cup option. You can change the coffee strength via the coffee bean button. Use the “ml” button to select the cup size. On the far right you have another button to enter the menu and save your favorites.
Press the Start/Stop button to start the reference. We find that The display is very clear and easy to understand even without instructions. You can find out how to set everything on the EQ.6 in detail in the Settings section.
Housing of the Siemens EQ.6 plus s700
This bean to cup coffee machine uses a surprising amount of stainless steel. We are otherwise mostly used to plastic in this price range. In comparison, the Siemens EQ.6 plus s700 is therefore definitely very high-quality. Here, the front panel and the entire top are made of stainless steel, just like the cup tray.

Much stainless steel, very good quality
In addition, the collection trays close very precisely with the housing and the stainless steel milk container is completely airtight.
We have now already tested almost 20 different models. This Siemens is among the very best in terms of quality.
With the Siemens EQ.6 plus s700, you can prepare a total of 9 different drinks. You can even prepare all drinks in a double cup option, e.g. two lattes at the same time.
After switching on, it only takes about 40 seconds until you can prepare the first drink. Then the bean to cup coffee machine has heated up and performed a rinse cycle.
You can choose from the following drinks:
- Espresso
- Caffè Crema
- Americano
- Cappuccino
- Latte Macchiato
- Latte
- Flat White
- Espresso Macchiato
- Little brown
- Milk foam / Warm milk
- Hot water
Espresso
First, as always, we show you an espresso. Because this absolute classic is already a good indication of how much you can expect from a bean to cup coffee machine. We really like the fact that we can intuitively adjust the flavor and beverage quantity with just a few clicks. We explain all the details under Settings.
For espresso, the finest grinder setting is best. For coffee, grinder setting 3 is ideal. If you want to drink both drinks regularly, we recommend level 2 – the perfect middle ground. After you have adjusted the grinder setting, it will take a few pulls before you feel a difference in taste. Constant switching back and forth therefore makes no sense.
Incidentally, the draw takes about 40 seconds. Afterwards, we directly measured the temperature, because hot espresso and coffee is especially important to many of you.

One espresso lasts about 40 seconds
At 73°C, the espresso is hot enough , even at the medium temperature level.

At 73°C, the espresso is quite hot
The crema is fine and hazelnut brown, that’s how it should be. Taste very intense and full-bodied. Definitely one of the best espressos we’ve had so far. In any case, also a very good basis for good cappuccino. Of course, we’ll show it to you right away.

Fine brown crema, intense aroma
In terms of taste, the coffee is very aromatic and intense to 120 ml. With higher beverage quantities, however, it then becomes a little bitter. For large cups , we therefore recommend a double cup option. Simply place a cup underneath and prepare 2×120 ml. Then 2 coffee pucks are used and your coffee becomes a real wake-up call.
A cup of coffee is ready in pretty much exactly one minute. In the double cup option, it is then two minutes. The crema already looks promising during the draw.

Hot, aromatic coffee in about one minute
After moving in, we immediately measured the temperature again. At 72°C, the coffee is already quite hot on medium levels. At the highest temperature levels, it gets another 3-5 degrees hotter.

72°C on medium level – on highest level approx. 75°c
A super crema, almost like in the café. Taste beautifully intense and aromatic. Above 120 ml, however, the coffee becomes a little bitter. Then you can use the double cup option or alternatively an Americano. We present it to you now.

Fine crema, intense flavor
Americano
A good alternative to coffee is the Americano. An espresso extended with hot water. In Americano, unlike coffee, not all the water is forced through the coffee puck. An espresso is prepared first, and then it is diluted with hot water.

Americano = espresso + hot water = extra mild
This preparation makes the extraction of the coffee puck shorter. Therefore, the Americano is less bitter and tastes more like filter coffee. Just give it a try. We like the Americano even better than the Caffè Crema.
Cappuccino
Now there is finally milk foam to see. We start with a classic cappuccino. To do this, we set the aroma to “strong” and select 220 ml for the beverage quantity. We set the milk content to 70%. The ratio of milk to espresso is then just under 2.5 to 1, which is close to the original recipe.
A cappuccino is made with warm milk, milk foam and espresso. For the grinder setting, we therefore again recommend level 1 or 2, i.e. a fairly fine grinder setting. This is the best way to taste the aromas of your coffee beans.
First, the milk foam is prepared and then the espresso is prepared. Our cappuccino is ready after about 1:30 minutes.
As you can see, even large glasses get really full. And that even though we haven’t even chosen the highest setting. With other bean to cup coffee machines, our glass only got a good half full.

Even large glasses get really full
We really like the fact that the milk spout is automatically cleaned with hot steam directly after use ( ). You can hear it in the video with a short hiss.
At 70°C, it has the ideal temperature. At the highest temperature levels, it even gets up to 75 degrees hot.

Even 3 degrees more than the desired 67°C
The milk foam is super fine and uniform. Proper micro foam as only a few bean to cup coffee machines can. It is very creamy and also slightly sweet in taste. At the same time, the hazelnut flavors of our beans come out well.
Overall a very good cappuccino, close to perfection. You don’t have to be surprised if your friends are more often standing in front of the door with a piece of cake 😉

Super fine, creamy milk foam = Micro-Foam
Latte Macchiato
Let’s take a look at the next milk foam classic, the latte macchiato. According to the original recipe, four parts milk to one part espresso. Therefore, we set the milk content to 80%.
We set the beverage quantity to 325 ml. This will easily fill our big glass. The maximum goes up to 400 ml. Since the volume of the milk increases during froth, you need almost a glass with half a liter volume.
We set the aroma to “DoubleShot”. Then the espresso for our latte macchiato is prepared from 2 coffee pucks. At the same time, the espresso content remains at 20% overall. Thus, not more, but an even more intense espresso is prepared. Because the first seconds of extraction bring out the strongest and most aromatic part of the espresso.
First, the milk foam is prepared again and then the two espressos, because we have set a DoubleShot. As hoped, our big glass also gets really full. Even the big Ikea cup is easily filled with the Siemens EQ.6.

First the milk foam, then the espresso
The temperature is just right at 64°C. In latte macchiato, the milk content is quite high, and milk is rarely heated above 65°C in bean to cup coffee machines. This is the sweet spot where the slight sweetness of the milk comes to the fore.

64°C at medium temperature level
The milk foam is again extremely fine and even. Through the DoubleShot, in addition to the slight sweetness of the milk, the chocolate-hazelnut flavors of our beans come through well.
The creamy milk foam makes for a super mouthfeel. Overall, a very round latte macchiato.

Very fine, creamy milk foam
Latte
All of you who like to drink coffee with a shot of milk will be thrilled by the latte. Because here your coffee is mixed with hot milk at the touch of a button.
According to the original recipe, the milk content is 50%. But you can also adjust it between 30 and 70%. A great option for those who want their coffee to be extra mild.

Latte made from 50% milk and 50% coffee = especially mild
Flat White
The Flat White is a popular variant of the Cappuccino. The difference lies in the preparation. An espresso is prepared first, followed by milk foam. This creates a beautiful, brown milk foam cap.

First espresso and then milk foam = brown milk foam
In addition, the milk foam is a little more liquid than in the cappuccino, because the milk is not foamed as much. Try it out in any case . It’s worth it!

Creamy liquid milk foam
Set coffee strength
Use the coffee bean to set the coffee strength. A total of 5 levels are available from very mild to very strong . The higher the level, the more coffee powder the bean to cup coffee machine uses.

You can set the coffee strength in 5 levels via the coffee bean
You will also find the Double Shot function here. In this process, the bean to cup coffee machine uses a second coffee puck. This will make your coffee or cappuccino even more intense and aromatic. Perfect for those who like it strong.

for intense flavor there is the DoubleShot function
You also activate the compartment for ground coffee under the coffee bean.

ground coffee powder
Activate double cup option
The button with the 2 cups allows you to activate the double cup option to prepare two drinks at the same time.

activate the double cup option via the cups
Make sure that each cup is under one of the two outlets. A second coffee puck is also ground during preparation. You can use the double cup option with any beverage. This is particularly convenient, as many vending machines often offer this function only for espresso and coffee.
Adjust beverage quantity
For each drink, you can adjust the cup size using the “ml” button. Here you have 3 levels to choose from for small, medium and large cups:

Adjust cup size easily in 3 levels
By the way, you can also set the cup size to exactly how many milliliters a small, medium or large cup should have. To do this, simply go to the menu and select “Set cup size“. Here you can select, for example, “Caffe Crema medium”. Now you can set exactly how many milliliters your medium cup of Caffe Crema should have.

Customize cup sizes in the menu
Here you have a total of 5 levels at your disposal – from 110 to 150 ml.

You can adjust each cup size in 5 levels
For each cup size you have a different margin. For a large cup of Caffe Crema, for example, you can choose from 160 ml to 240 ml. So you can customize the three cup sizes for each drink.
Adjust coffee-milk ratio
For your milk foam drinks, you can adjust the ratio between coffee and milk foam. For each drink, you have 5 levels to choose from – from 50% to 90%. The percentages always prepare for the milk content.

Milk content can be adjusted in 5 levels
For a cappuccino, we recommend a milk content of 70% , according to the original recipe. If you want a strong cappuccino, you can also try 60% or 50%. We would recommend increasing the coffee strength rather than reducing the milk content. The reason for this is that we do not want a long espresso that is extracted for too long (bitterness!).
For latte macchiato, we recommend a milk content of 80%, because the original recipe calls for 4 parts milk to 1 part espresso.
Admittedly, we found the coffee-milk ratio in percent a bit strange at first. However, it is reallyvery practical . Whether you prepare a large or small cup, the ratio always remains the same. With other fully automatic coffee machines, you often have to increase the amount of coffee and milk foam individually in order to increase the total amount of coffee. Thisis really well solved with the Siemens EQ.6.
Create favorites
With the EQ.6 you can create up to 4 favorites . This is handy if you want to personalize your coffee or cappuccino. To do this, we go to “Favorites” in the menu and select one of the four.
Now the device asks which drink we want to personalize. We choose the latte. Now the machine asks for the desired coffee strength and cup size. We can now easily adjust these to our liking (e.g. strong aroma, medium cup).

For your favorites you can set everything exactly
He then asks again for the exact milliliters of our cup – here we select 200 ml. Next, you can even set the beverage temperature in 3 levels (normal, high & hot). We like it hot and therefore select “Maximum”.

Adjust beverage quantity ml-exactly
Now he asks for the coffee-milk ratio – here we choose 50%. After that we save our settings.

Set milk content for latte
We can access our favorites via the button with the two males. Under favorite 2 we see the latte:

Prepare favorites with a few clicks
Now we can start the reference immediately or adjust the drink again beforehand. For example, if today we want a milder latte for once.
Set temperature
If the drinks are not hot enough for you, you canincreasethe “coffee temperature” in the menu. Here you have 3 levels to choose from: normal, high and maximum. This setting applies to all drinks. Although you cannot adjust the temperature of the milk foam, the beverage temperature of your cappuccino also increases when the espresso is hotter.

Beverage temperature adjustable in 3 levels
Activate parental control
We haven’t seen a child lock on any other bean to cup coffee machine yet. Here SIEMENS focuses on safety, because coffee can be quite hot enough. You can activate the backup by pressing and holding the “Favorites“button forat least 3 seconds. The device is locked as soon as a key appears in the display. You can unlock the device in the same way.

Better safe than sorry… especially for children
Regular cleaning of your Siemens EQ.6 is crucial if you want to enjoy intense espresso and fine milk foam for a long time. The milk system, brewing unit and collection trays are particularly important. Overall, cleaning and maintenance of the EQ.6 is done in about 20 minutes per week.
In addition, you should descale the bean to cup coffee machine every 1-3 months. How often you need a
decalcification
depends on the water hardness and whether you use a water filter. The program lasts about 30 minutes and the effective effort for you is 5-10 minutes.
By the way, we have directly provided you with the
most important care products

Clean milk system
We really like the fact that the milk spouts are automatically cleaned with hot steam after each draw. The Siemens EQ.6 does this with every drink immediately after frothing. Siemens calls it autoMilk clean.
The “Clean milk system” program is also practical for rinsing the milk spout and the milk tube thoroughly with hot water. We recommend you to perform this program 1x a day. To do this, place an empty cup under the milk spout and hang the milk tube inside.

Cleaning the milk system with hot water at the touch of a button
Then wipe the milk tube with a damp cloth and insert it into the small holder on the right side of the cup grid.
You can also remove the milk spout completely. According to the instructions, you should rinse it thoroughly 1x per week. But you can also put the outlet together with the milk tube in the dishwasher.

Milk spout and milk tube may be placed in the dishwasher
The milk container including the lid should be cleaned thoroughly every 2-3 days. It may also be placed in the dishwasher. You can also dip the milk tube directly into a milk carton, then you save washing the milk container completely.

Rinse milk tank every 2-3 days
All in all, cleaning the milk system is very easy and done in 1 minute per day. It really couldn’t be simpler. If you use an external milk container you will need about 10 minutes per week.
Cleaning the drip tray & coffee grounds tray
When the coffee grounds tray is full, a message appears in the display. When the drip tray is full, a red float sticks up through the cup grate. In both cases, you should pull the containers out to the front and empty them.

Pulling out the collection trays to the front
The coffee pucks are cleanly pressed and relatively dry. So the brewing unit seems to be doing a good job. The container is relatively small, so you will have to empty it after only 6-7 drinks.

Coffee pucks neatly pressed and relatively dry
Around the coffee grounds tray is the drip tray, which collects the water from the rinsing processes . The practical spout at the rear end allows you to easily empty the water into the sink.
According to the instructions, both containers should be cleaned daily. We empty them daily and swish them with water. Since the containers have hardly any corners, they are easy to clean by hand. We then rinse them thoroughly with water and detergent 1x per week.
Practical: You can also put the containers in the dishwasher. The grooves of the plastic grille in the cup grate are also somewhat awkward to clean by hand. The small stainless steel orifice may only be rinsed by hand.

Collection trays may be placed in dishwasher
Overall, cleaning the containers is very easy and done in about 3 minutes per week. It’s best to just put it in the dishwasher.
Or alternatively, here’s the whole thing again for your perusal:
Please always switch off the bean to cup coffee machine before removing the brewing unit. After that, you can open the service hatch on the right side. Now unlock the small red switch and press the lever on the far right down. Now you can simply pull out the brewing unit.

Unlock brewing unit by switch
As on any brewing unit, there are a few coffee residues. Sometimes it was a little more than other bean to cup coffee machines. Therefore, it is important that you rinse them once a week with clean water and then let them air dry, preferably overnight.

A few coffee leftovers can be found – as always
It is best to use a
cleaning brush
* to get into the smaller corners. The linked set is ideal for maintenance, as it includes the cleaning brush as well as silicone grease and matching seals. Especially the larger mold seal you should also remove and clean weekly.
After 2-3 years you can replace the seals and every 2 months individual moving parts are minimally greased. But more about that in
our video
.
Please do not use rinsing agent, because without the thin layer of grease, the brewing unit could squeak or even jam. And you don’t want to miss out on your delicious espresso 😉

Rinse brewing unit with clean water
By the way, you can also have the brewing unit cleaned automatically. Siemens recommends starting a cleaning program with a special tablet after around 200 picks. The also removes the fat of the beans from the brewing chamber. The program makes particular sense in our opinion, if you want to change the bean type.
Overall, cleaning and maintenance of the brewing unit takes about 8 minutes per week.
Perform decalcification
How often you need to descale your Siemens EQ.6 plus depends on the water hardness and whether you use water filters. If the water is very hard, you need to descale after 150 cups or after 1 month. If you use soft water, you will need to descale approximately every 1,000 cups or after about 5 months.
With a water filter, the interval between decalcifications is extended again by about 3 months.
There is a 30-minute program for descaling and the effective effort for you is a maximum of 10 minutes. To do this, fill the water tank with 0.5 liters up to the mark and dissolve a descaling tablet (from Siemens) in it. Then start the program in the menu and follow the steps in the display. It guides you through the program with simple hints. You do not need the instructions for this. During the warranty we recommend you to use the original tablets.

Dissolve descaling tablet in 500 ml of water
You should definitely set your water hardness in the menu so that you are automatically reminded to descale . The corresponding test strip is included in the scope of delivery. The first water filter is included in the delivery. Whether you use water filters or prefer to decalcify a little more often is, of course, up to you. We have brought you both the original and a cheaper
water filter and descaler
out.
However, from a hardness level of 15°dH or higher, we recommend you to use a water filter. It is better for the longevity of the be an to cup coffee machine if the limescale does not get into the pipes in the first place than if it has to be removed by cleaning.
