Conclusion on the Siemens EQ.700
Currently best bean to cup coffee machine in our test
You can prepare up to 33 drinks with the Siemens EQ.700 classic. In our test, the milk foam was the best of all bean to cup coffee machines. It was extremly fine and creamy. The espresso was also convincing with a lot of intensity and aroma.
Overall, all drinks were of a very high standard. Of all the bean to cup coffee machines, the EQ.700 makes the best cappuccino and latte macchiato.
The machine also scored well in all other categories. You can customize the drinks to your taste preferences using the 5-inch touch screen . The bean to cup coffee machine can be operated intuitively and optionallyvia app.
Compared to other models, the EQ.700 classic is very easy to clean. We particularly like the quick and thorough cleaning of the milk system .
As with all Siemens devices, quality and workmanship are on the usual high level. At around 61 decibels, the bean to cup coffee machine has one of the quietest grinders around.
We recommend the EQ.700 for connoisseurs, families and couples with high demands on taste and quality. The Siemens EQ.700 is currently the best bean to cup coffee machine in our test.
Advantages:
- finest milk foam in the test (Micro-Foam)
- extra intensity – doubleShot function
- quiet grinder & milk system
- control & switch on via app
- all drinks also in double cup option
- large 5 inch touch display
- Create 10 individual favorites
- easiest cleaning in the test
Disadvantages:
- no profiles (only 10 favorites)
- somewhat small collection trays
Summary of the Siemens EQ.700
The Siemens EQ.700 is available in different versions. There is the “Classic” variant with milk tube and the “Integral” variant with integrated milk container. You can dip the milk tube (Classic model) directly into your milk carton and save yourself the extra cleaning of a milk container. If required, you can also use an external milk container* so you are flexible. With the “Integral” version there is the option to use a milk tube adapter*.
There are other differences between both variants. On the“Integral” model, you have a stainless steel front panel (instead of plastic), a cup heater , and 30 drink favorites (instead of 10). You have to decide for yourself whether these features are worth the extra charge. In any case, they make no difference to the quality of the drinks. Since the EQ.700 “Classic” is a lot cheaper, it’s worth considering which model is right for you before buying:
EQ.700 classic
- with milk tube or external container
- 10 individual favorites
- Plastic front panel
- Without cup heater
EQ.700 integral
- integrated milk container
- 30 individual favorites
- Stainless steel front panel
- With cup heater

The Siemens EQ.700 classic is around 31 cm wide and 38 cm high. All important parts of the bean to cup coffee machine are easy to reach from the front.
Milk system
We chose the Siemens EQ.700 classic because we really like the flexibility with milk tube. So we can freely decide whether to use an external milk container or a milk carton.

EQ.700 classic: can be used with milk carton or external container
Our external milk container* from Siemens costs around 30 euros and is made of a double-walled stainless steel. It is thus well insulated and your milk stays cool longer. It fits up to 500 ml which is enough for about 5 drinks . The round milk container is also easier to clean than the triangular milk container on the “Integral” model.

500 ml milk container for approx. 5 drinks
By the way, the milk foam is particularly creamy and fine with cool milk with a fat content of approx. 3.5% . But the milk foam also works really well with the barista variants of oat, almond or soy milk.
Bean compartment
The bean compartment of the Siemens EQ.700 can hold around 350 g of coffee beans , which is enough for about 40 drinks. That is quite a lot compared to other bean to cup coffee machines. A message will also appear on the display when the drawer is empty (if at least 15 prints have been made since the last refill).

350 grams of beans for about 40 drinks
There is no compartment for ground coffee. We personally like this because it is relatively hard to keep clean. Residual coffee powder in combination with rising damp could also promote mold. Therefore, you only have one flap for cleaning tablets here.
We like the darkened lid with a circumferential rubber seal. This way, your coffee beans are well protected from light and air and their aroma is preserved in the best possible way.

darkened and airtight – aroma is well preserved
Water tank
The water tank is on the right side. When you take off the lid, you can bring it forward to you via an integrated handle . After that, you can simply fill it up under the tap.

Integrated handle to remove tank
By the way, up to 2.4 liters fit inside, which is enough for about 20 drinks. This is also quite a lot compared to other bean to cup coffee machines, because most water tanks can hold a maximum of 1.7 liters. Therefore, the Siemens EQ.700 is ideal for families and households that want to prepare a lot of drinks .

Up to 2.4 liters for approx. 20 drinks
Alternatively, you can of course fill the water tank directly at the bean to cup coffee machine.
Coffee and milk spout
The milk and coffee spouts of the Siemens EQ.700 can be adjusted in height from 7.5 to 14 cm. Since there are two outlets each, you can also prepare all drinks, including milk foam, in the double cup option (except when DoubleShot is activated).

Large latte macchiato glasses are no problem
Thestainless steel cup tray is well protected from scratches by an unobtrusive plastic grid . With many bean to cup coffee machines, this is a weak point, but it has been solved well here.

Stainless steel cup tray with discreet protection from scratches
Preparation time
After switching on, the device heats up and flushes the pipes with hot water. The Siemens EQ.700 is definitely one of the fastest bean to cup coffee machines because you can already prepare the first drink after about 40 seconds .
Drink | Preparation time |
Espresso | 46 seconds |
Coffee | 58 seconds |
Cappuccino | 80 seconds |
Latte Macchiato | 107 seconds |
Display of the Siemens EQ.700
You operate the bean to cup coffee machine via a large touch display. It is slightly slanted so that everything is also easy to read from above. After the start you will see the classic drinks like espresso, cafè crema and cappuccino. Under Coffee World you will find more drinks like Flat White or Americano. All drinks are presented as a picture and even come with a brief explanation of origin and ingredients.

Intuitive 5 inch touch display
If you tap on one of these beverages, you can still make various settings, e.g. adjust the coffee strength, the beverage quantity or the aroma. Everything works quickly and easily by touch. Everything is kept simple and understandable without instructions.
You can also control the Siemens EQ.700 via app and switch it on remotely. The display and the app also always show clear indications, e.g. when the bean compartment or the water tank are empty.
With the Siemens EQ.700, you can prepare 15 different beverages directly on the bean to cup coffee machine. There are then 15 additional drinks available via the Home Connect app. So you have a total of 30 coffee specialties to choose from. There is certainly something for every taste.
On the bean to cup coffee machine: Espresso, Doppio, Caffé Crema, Caffé Grande, Caffé XL, Americano, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato, Flat White, Latte, Cafè con leche, Small brown, Extended, Ristretto, Espresso Macchiato, Milk foam, Hot milk, Hot water
About the app: Viennese Melange, Cortado, Café Cortado, Café au lait, Kaapi, Koffie verkeerd, Galao, Garoto, Red eye, Black eye, Dead eye, Großer Brauner, Verlängerter Brauner
Optimal settings: We set the coffee strength to “strong”, because we want a nice strong espresso. For the beverage quantity, we recommend a maximum of 40 ml. We leave the aroma at “balanced”. The grinder setting is factory set to level 2, which is optimal for espresso.
After only 46 seconds, the espresso is also ready. We measure 68°C degrees – perfect! If that’s not hot enough for you, you can also increase the brewing temperature.

46 sec. Reference duration and optimum 68°C temperature
The espresso has a dense crema. It is fine-pored and hazelnut brown – just as it should be! In our typical spoon test, the crema closes right back up. To do this, dip a spoon straight into the crema and draw it up slightly. If a closed crema forms again quickly afterwards, full points are awarded in the test.
In taste, the espresso is full-bodied and the flavors come out wonderfully. Definitely one of the best espresso we have prepared so far from the bean to cup coffee machine!

Fine, hazelnut brown crema
Optimal settings: Here we set the coffee strength to level 2. If you like it stronger, select level 3. For the beverage quantity , we select 120 ml. We set the aroma to mild.
After just under a minute, the coffee is also ready. We measure 72°C – that is optimal! As you can see, the coffee also has a nice crema. Its taste is intense and very aromatic thanks to the few bitter substances.

Hot enough & with fine crema
Tip for coffee drinkers: If you want to prepare a large cup of coffee, you should choose the Caffé Grande . If you set the coffee strength here to “strong” or “very strong”, the device will perform a DoubleShot and automatically use two coffee pucks for your drink. For a 240 ml cup you then prepare 2×120 ml.
Cappuccino
When it comes to cappuccino, the Siemens EQ.700 offers you a lot of flexibility. With most bean to cup coffee machines, the milk foam is prepared first, followed by the espresso. However, this is not the classic Italian preparation. Therefore, you can set yourself here whether the milk foam is prepared first or the espresso first.

Typical bean to cup coffee machine or classic Italian preparation
For the coffee strength, we set level 3, as for espresso. We set the beverage quantity to 180 ml. Then we can still adjust the milk content from 60% to 80%. We choose 80%, because then about 40 ml of espresso is prepared. The ideal amount for a cappuccino.
After 80 seconds, our cappuccino is also ready. The temperature of the cappuccino is perfect – at 67°C, it reaches exactly the target temperature for the catering trade.

Optimum 67°C after 80 sec. Subscription period
As you can see, the milk foam is so fine that the individual bubbles are barely visible. Proper micro-foam as only a few bean to cup coffee machines master. The consistency is slightly creamy and not too firm. Just the way it has to be!

Extremely fine and creamy milk foam (Micro-Foam)
Taste-wise, the cappuccino is slightly sweet and the hazelnut flavors of our coffee beans come out perfectly. Overall, a very good cappuccino and one of the best we have had so far from the bean to cup coffee machine.
We set the coffee strength to level 3 again. Those who like it stronger can of course select the Double Shot. We set the beverage quantity to 250 ml and the milk content to 85%. Those who like it mild can also set 90%.
By the way, according to experts, the optimum temperature for milk foam is 60-65°C. Because then the milk foam is slightly sweet in taste and has the perfect creaminess.
We often get messages that the milk foam on Siemens is not hot enough. It is true that other bean to cup coffee machines heat the milk higher, sometimes over 70 degrees. However, the milk can then already taste slightly burnt and you get quite stiff milk foam.
We measured an optimal 63-64°C in our test. Siemens does everything right here, because latte macchiato is a “hot drink” and “hot beverage”. Those who still like it hotter can increase the temperature of the espresso in the settings.
You can even set a “latte macchiato pause” in the drink settings. This defines after how many seconds the espresso should be prepared. The longer the pause, the better the milk and milk foam can settle from each other.
This should make the typical 3 layers form even more clearly. However, we could not see a big difference in our test. Probably the pause of 10 seconds is too short to make a difference.
The latte macchiato also has a super fine milk foam. It’s nice and mild in flavor, and the espresso flavors come subtly through the sweetness of the milk.
More drinks
In addition to the four classics, you have a huge selection of other specialty coffees, such as the very popular latte. It consists of half warm milk and half coffee.
In addition, you will be introduced to some unusual drinks in the “Coffee World”. With the Flat White, the Kaapi or the Cortado you then get an explanation of the origin and preparation.
Set coffee strength
You can adjust the coffee strength in 4 levels. The higher the level, the more coffee powder the bean to cup coffee machine uses and the more intense your drink will be. At levels 4 you will receive a so-called Double Shot. In this process, the coffee powder is divided into 2 coffee pucks. Your drink will be intense and at the same time remain aromatic with few bitter substances.
The bean to cup coffee machine does not have a compartment for ground coffee, as the chute is always relatively difficult to keep clean. Coffee grounds residue combined with rising damp can promote mold. Siemens is fully committed to hygiene here and has now abolished the tray. Coffee tastes better with freshly ground coffee beans anyway. With the predecessor Siemens EQ.6 the coffee powder compartment was still present.

Coffee strength in 4 levels

Doubleshot – on level 4
Adjust grinder setting
You will find the grinder regulator in the bean compartment. Here you have 6 levels to choose from. The smaller the dot, the finer the beans are ground. We have achieved the best results on grinder setting level 2 . You should only adjust the grinder setting during the grinding process by turning the control knob. When the grinder is in motion, nothing jams either.

Grinder setting in 6 levels
Set aroma
You can adjust the aroma in 3 levels : mild, balanced and distinctive. What was meant by this was neither on the display nor was there an explanation in the instructions. After several tests, we noticed that you can use it to control the brewing time. That is, how long the water has contact with the coffee powder.
The longer the contact time, the stronger your drink will be, as the water has more time to release the flavors from the coffee beans. Thus, the Siemens EQ.700 offers you another possibility to experiment with the taste. Unfortunately, this option is available only for the drinks without milk foam such as espresso, coffee, Americano ….

Aroma in 3 levels
Set beverage quantity
The beverage quantity is represented as cups. Here you have 4 levels with specific milliliters:

Beverage quantity in 4 levels
The milliliters vary depending on the beverage:
Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | |
Espresso: | 35 ml | 40 ml | 45 ml | 50 ml |
Caffè Crema: | 80 ml | 100 ml | 120 ml | 140 ml |
Caffè Grande: | 160 ml | 200 ml | 240 ml | 280 ml |
Cappuccino: | 140 ml | 180 ml | 220 ml | 260 ml |
Latte Macchiato: | 200 ml | 250 ml | 300 ml | 350 ml |
Latte: | 160 ml | 200 ml | 240 ml | 280 ml |
- Espresso: 35 | 40 | 45 | 50 ml
- Caffè Crema: 80 | 100 | 120 | 140 ml
- Caffè Grande: 160 | 200 | 240 | 280 ml
- Cappuccino: 140 | 180 | 220 | 260 ml
- Latte Macchiato: 200 | 250 | 300 | 350 ml
- Latte: 160 | 200 | 240 | 280 ml
For the best aroma, we recommend a maximum of level 2 (40 ml) for espresso. For coffee, you should prepare a maximum of 120 ml (level 3). The more water is pressed through the coffee puck, the more bitter substances are dissolved out of the coffee powder.
If you want to prepare a large cup of coffee you can simply activate the double cup option (2×100 ml= 200ml). With the double cup option you will automatically receive two coffee pucks for your drink. Alternatively, you can choose the Caffè Grande . From level 3 (240 ml), the bean to cup coffee machine automatically performs the DoubleShot. Thus, 120 ml are prepared per coffee puck.
For beverages with milk foam, set the total beverage quantity. Espresso and milk foam cannot be adjusted separately in milliliters. You can influence both indirectly via the milk content.
Adjust milk content
You can set the milk content in 5 levels . Depending on the drink, you also have different gradations here:
- Cappuccino: 60 to 80%
- Latte Macchiato: 70 – 90
- Latte: 30-70%

Milk content in 5 levels
The higher the milk content, the milder your drink will be. Unfortunately, the proportion of espresso can only be determined indirectly via the milk content. This in turn depends on the total beverage quantity. The following tables show you the espresso quantity by milk content (in %) and beverage quantity (in ml). A good espresso should have a maximum of 45 ml. We have highlighted our recommendations for you in green:
Set temperature
In the beverage settings (gear button), you can adjust the brewing temperature in 3 levels . For our tests, we prepared all drinks at medium levels. The temperature of the milk foam cannot be influenced. We measured around 63 °C for the EQ.700. This is also perfectly adequate. According to experts, it should also only be between 60 and 65 °C for cappuccino and co.

Brewing temperature in 3 levels
Double cup option
You can also prepare all drinks in a double cup option, because the device has two coffee and two milk spouts. This is especially handy when you have visitors. The bean to cup coffee machine then automatically performs two grinding and brewing operations. For the double cup option, select the 2 cups icon in the display before brewing.

Selecting the double cup option in the display

Create favorites
The settings you have made are always saved for the respective beverage. But you can also save them as a favorite. This is convenient when everyone in the household has different taste preferences. At EQ.700 Classic you can save up to 10 favorites and in the Integral version even up to 30 favorites. For each favorite drink you should also choose a color. Here it is useful if each family member is assigned a fixed color.

Save settings as favorite

App control
You can also prepare all drinks via the Home Connect app. Here you can make the same settings as on the device. In the Coffee World you will find many more drinks. For each drink you always have an explanation. Here you can try out a few things. However, the app does not offer much added value. One advantage is that you can also switch on the bean to cup coffee machine remotely. Optimal for those who are in a particular hurry in the morning.

More settings
You can change the milk order for the cappuccino in the beverage settings. In the “milk first” variant, milk foam and espresso are layered. According to the original recipe, however, “first the coffee” goes into the glass, whereby both are mixed during preparation.

Milk order for cappuccino
You can also adjust the “Latte Macchiato Pause” in the drink settings. This defines when the bean to cup coffee machine should add the espresso to the milk foam. Incidentally, this is a function that Siemens has copied from Jura bean to cup coffee machines. The longer the pause, the better the milk and milk foam can separate . That is, the heavier milk sinks to the bottom and the lighter foam goes to the top. This allows the espresso to slide between the two layers to form the typical 3 layers. However, we could not detect any effect in our test. Probably the pause of 10 seconds is too short to make any difference at all.
Quality of the Siemens EQ.700
Siemens bean to cup coffee machines not only stand for aromatic beverages, but also for good quality and low noise levels during operation. At least we hear these words again and again when we talk about the subject with friends or acquaintances. We’ll now reveal whether the new Siemens EQ.700 confirms this impression.
Housing & Display
Like the vast majority of bean to cup coffee machines, the Siemens EQ.700 is largely made of plastic. However, this is very well made and all parts fit together perfectly. The gap dimension is very small here.

Matte front panel looks more premium than expected
The matte front panel also looks higher-quality than expected. Alternatively, you can also opt for the Siemens EQ.700 integral with a stainless steel front panel*.
The large 5-inch TFT color display is slightly slanted, easy to read and responds flawlessly to our clicks. By the way, it works best with the index finger.
The bean compartment and water tank are hermetically sealed. The stainless steel drip tray is protected from scratches by a small plastic grid.
Everything looks to us as if it has been carefully thought out. It quickly becomes clear that this is a top-of-the-line bean to cup coffee machine.
Siemens EQ.700 brewing unit
The brewing unit is the heart of every bean to cup coffee machine. Cleanly pressed, dry coffee pucks are a good indication of quality.
With the EQ.700, the pucks are well pressed from the first draw. This is another improvement compared to the EQ.6 plus s700. There, it took a little bit of a ramp-up time for the pucks to become perfect.

Cleanly pressed coffee pucks = indication of functioning processes
Although the brewing unit is made of plastic, it seems very sturdy. There are also only 2-3 places where a few coffee residues can be found. But this is quite normal.

Robust brewing unit with well-functioning drains
However, the brewing unit has also been optimized, as we didn ‘t find any coffee powder in hidden corners here. The interior is also relatively clean. Overall, the processes work really well.
Ceramic grinder
The Siemens EQ.700 classic comes with a ceramic disc grinder. Ceramic is commonly associated with quality and a low volume.
We measured an average of about 61 decibels. This actually makes it one of the quietest grinders of all the bean to cup coffee machines we’ve tested so far. Besides the grinder, this is also due to the well-insulated casing.

61 decibels on average – very quiet grinder
By the way, on grinder setting 2, the coffee powder is ground nice and fine and evenly. Ideal for intense espresso.

Level 2 = uniformly fine coffee powder for espresso
Regular cleaning and care of your bean to cup coffee machine ensures long-lasting, intense espresso and creamy milk foam. The most important of these are the milk system, the brewing unit and the collection trays.
In total, it takes about 20 minutes per week to clean and maintain the bean to cup coffee machine. The Siemens EQ.700 is easy to clean compared to other models. Many parts are dishwasher safe. With the cleaning programs, only a few steps are required and then the device does everything else automatically.
In addition, every 1-3 months you should decalcification every 1-3 months. If you use water filters, you will have to descale much less often. The program lasts about 30 minutes and the effective effort for you is 5-10 minutes.

Cleaning tablets
Here you can read everything again: After each draw of milk foam, the machine automatically performs a short steam cleaning. Siemens calls it autoMilk clean.
In addition, there is a short cleaning program that you should run 1x per day . Best after the last drink with milk foam. It would be perfect if the bean to cup coffee machine would still remind you.

Milk adapter and hose are flushed hot through
During cleaning, the milk spouts and the milk tube including the tube are thoroughlyrinsed with hot water and then still disinfected with steam.
After that, all you need to do is wipe the tube with a cloth and put it in the drip grid. Very simple and effective.
Tip: According to the instructions, you should insert the milk tube into the holder in the cup grate for cleaning. However, we recommend you to take an empty cup and put the milk tube in it. This is because the milk residues are rinsed into the cup and not into the drip tray. Then you do not have to clean them thoroughly every day.
Clean milk adapter
You will find the milk adapter directly behind the bezel. The milk is sucked in via the hose on the side. It is then frothed with hot steam directly in the milk adapter.
The milk does not get inside the bean to cup coffee machine. As far as hygiene is concerned, this is a great advantage!

It is foamed directly in the milk adapter – milk never gets inside the bean to cup coffee machine
You should remove the milk adapter once a week and disassemble it into its individual parts. You can then put them in the dishwasher along with the milk tube.
Alternatively, soak everything in warm water with dishwashing liquid for 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

Milk adapter and hose are dishwasher safe
Cleaning the milk container (optional)
You can use the Siemens EQ.700 classic with a milk carton or also with an external milk container. If you use the
external milk container*
from Siemens, you canstore it inthe refrigerator for 2-3 days.
On the third day at the latest, you should then clean the container thoroughly, either by hand or in the dishwasher.

Optional milk container (dishwasher safe)
By the way, you can also clean the integrated milk container of the Siemens EQ.700 integral in the dishwasher.
All in all, cleaning the milk system only takes about 1 minute per day. If you also use a milk container, cleaning takes a total of about 10 minutes per week.
Coffee grounds tray and drip tray
When the drip tray or coffee grounds tray is full, a message appears in the display. This is the case after 7-8 drinks , which is relatively little compared to other bean to cup coffee machines.
As you can see, the coffee pucks are cleanly pressed and dry, so the brewing unit does a good job.
The two containers are intentionally not so big so that you can clean them regularly. Siemens attaches great importance to hygiene.
According to the instructions, you should clean both containers daily. However, it is sufficient if you empty them daily and rinse them thoroughly once a week. If you want you can also put them in the dishwasher.

Drip trays and drip grids may be placed in the dishwasher
Overall, cleaning the collection trays takes about 3 minutes per week if you put them in the dishwasher. By hand it takes a little longer.
Cleaning the brewing unit
The brewing unit of the Siemens EQ.700 can be removed in just a few steps. You can even view a short tutorial via the display. This is already a practical help.
First, you should switch off the bean to cup coffee machine, even if Siemens says it is not necessary. Then you can remove the water tank and open the cover behind it. Now push the small lever to the right and you can pull the brewing unit straight out.
There are always and with every bean to cup coffee machine a few coffee leftovers. This is quite normal. Therefore, you should thoroughly rinse the brewing unit with warm water 1x per week. The coffee residues are always found in the same places and are also easy to remove. The best way to do this is with a cleaning brush.

few coffee residues – on the funnel, the plunger and in the brewing chamber
There is also a cleaning program to degrease the brewing chamber. It takes 12 minutes and runs through almost completely automatically. You will always be reminded of this after 200 draws.
Overall, the effective effort for cleaning and maintenance of the brewing unit is only 3 minutes per week.
In this video, we will show you the best way to clean the brewing unit:
Siemens EQ.700 descale
By the way, you need to descale after about 150 to 1,000 cups, depending on how hard or soft your water is. You can and should set the water hardness on the bean to cup coffee machine so that you are reminded to descale in good time.
If you use a water filter, the period between decalcifications will be significantly extended. In our case from 450 to 1100 cups. We have you each the original and a cheaper alternative from the
descaler and water filter
picked out.
There is also an automatic program for descaling. which lasts about 30 minutes. But the effective effort for you is only 5-10 minutes. A very practical feature is that the display gives you precise instructions on the next steps, e.g. fill the tank with 500 ml of water and dissolve the descaling tablet.
Here we show you how to descale the Siemens EQ.700 and explain how to use a water filter:
